IT security distributor uses Citrix Partner Accelerator 2010 as platform for launch

Newmarket, England, 8th March 2010: COMPUTERLINKS, a leading global distributor of IT security and Internet technology solutions, today announced it will be launching a new suite of virtualisation services designed specifically for its channel partners at the Citrix Partner Accelerator event on 11th March 2010. The services, which will consist of Capacity Planning, Design and Implementation, have been added to the Professional Services portfolio in direct response to demand from COMPUTERLINKS’ resellers.

The distributor will provide a combination of specialist expertise and additional resource to enable its partners not only to be better equipped but also to benefit from higher margins, when recommending virtualisation solutions across vendors such as Citrix, Microsoft, The Virtual Machine Company and VMware. The services will, initially, be available to resellers in the UK and Ireland, with the plan to deliver globally in the future.

Kathryn Miller, professional services manager at COMPUTERLINKS, commented:
“As the business case for virtualisation is now well-accepted, resellers are under increasing pressure to deliver solutions that are carefully planned to meet their clients’ specific needs. However, many resellers don’t have the resources or time to develop these skills in depth themselves. By partnering with us, they can deliver the expertise without the overhead.”

The announcement is the latest addition to COMPUTERLINKS’ Professional Services and Virtualisation portfolio for partners, follow the opening of its Global Support Centre in June 2009 and the agreement to distribute The Virtual Machine Company’s VSA Virtualisation Appliances in September 2009.

The new services will consist of capacity planning, design and implementation services and will cover the Citrix, Microsoft, The Virtual Machine Company and VMware platforms.

• Capacity planning
o Visibility and future-proofing of the hardware and software environments
o Identification of suitable assets to be virtualised
o Reduced risk of unexpected surprises during implementation
• Design

o Acceleration and increased accuracy of implementation phase
o Reduced risk of post-implementation re-work and project bottlenecks
• Implementation

“These services will help our resellers to show their clients what can be achieved within their existing network to help reduce costs as well as demonstrate scalability of services, applications and servers through the adoption of a virtualised infrastructure.” added Miller.
